Unexpected Cost Increases for World Cup 2018 Organisers

For all football fans around the world, the days flying by as we head towards next summer’s 2018 World Cup is great news. However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the organisers after they recently announced expenditure to be $600 million more than originally planned. Although no explanation has been given for the increase, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has given the $12 billion tournament the go-ahead.

Of the total budget, around 58% has been provided by the federal budget with 29% coming from legal entities and a further 13% supplied by regional government budgets.
