Romanian fitness club chain brought by African Industries Group

The leading operator of fitness clubs in Romania, World Class Romania, has been brought by the Nigerian-based African Industries Group (AIG). This move will see AIG expand its footprint in Europe and marks their first investment in the Romanian market. The acquisition includes all 46 World Class fitness clubs across the country as well as the company's head office and training center. With this purchase, AIG looks to create jobs and contribute to the development of Romania's economy. Aliko Dangote, Founder and Chairman of AIG, had this to say about the acquisition: "This is a landmark day for African Industries Group as we continue on our aggressive expansion drive into the Central and Eastern European (CEE) fitness market.
The leading fitness club chain in Romania, World Class, changed hands and is now owned by African Industries Group. This investment company bought all of the shares from the Swedish company World Class Seagull International. With this change of ownership, it is expected that there will be a significant increase in the number of clubs opened across the country as well as an improvement in their current memberships. African Industries Group has been quoted as saying that they are looking to "bring world-class health and fitness services to Romania." So far they have not given any indication as to whether there will be any changes made to the clubs themselves or how members use there commercial fitness gyms.
