Decathlon Germany reports best year in history

In 1986, the sporting goods manufacturer and retailer opened their first store in Dortmund. Since then, the company has expanded to 84 stores, two logistics centers and four campus locations for central services. The German branch of Decathlon reported that this year was their most successful financial year in 35 years with an increase of 3% over last year’s income. This is a promising sign for the future as they work to expand into new markets including China and North America by 2020.Further growth in German Sporting goods MarketIn 2021, Decathlon Germany reached a new sales record of 700 million euros. This was announced by the company late 2021 at their headquarters in Plochingen, near Stuttgart. Over the next four years, the sporting goods giant plans to reach sales of 2.5 billion euros in Germany alone. This growth will be enabled by a complete "Redesigning the playing field" which includes an increased investment in online retail and store refurbishments. The goal is to make sport more accessible for everyone and contribute to a healthier society. With this strategy, Decathlon hopes to maintain their position as Europe's largest sporting goods retailer.
