As any other former communist country in Southern Europe, Bulgaria has a long reputation in sports, regarded as a political and national pride. Stefka Kostadinova still holds the women`s world record holder in the high jump, Tereza Moncheva Marinova has proved that youth isn`t a disadvantage in the triple jump, since she was rewarded as the world junior record, Veselin Topalov and Antoaneta Stefanova are former World Chess Champions or the wonder tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova.

Naturally, the suite of sports performed in Bulgaria isn`t complete by the simple mention of athletics, chess or tennis, but these are the major Bulgarian sports, as consequence local and worldwide companies attempt to focus their sport creations on this direction. Most of local companies creating clothes and shoes for sports are focused on football, such as Symbolic, in addition Sportrax provides sporting goods for both football and winter sports, while Siven is dedicated to winter clothing and reliable shoes production.

Mistral is one of the few family companies on Bulgarian area, by choosing it a customer has the opportunity to personalize any sport outfit he would think, but the time cost, as well as the price is elevated comparing with the case of a wholesale supplier.

Jemsports, founded in 1985 is probably the oldest sporting company in Bulgaria, manufacturing reliable equipment for a whole range of sports, such as football, ski, tennis or gymnastics. Jemsports was constantly requested to create unique equipment for major events, including national or international competitions.

Although it`s founded in 1999, Eon Sport managed in short time to become a reliable competitor on Bulgarian market, reaching 50% of marketplace on classical sports equipment, such as football or volleyball, but also on unconventional sports in this country such as Martial Arts.

Diel has specialized since 1992 in the creation of winter equipments, as well as wind or wet-proof wear for extreme sports. Diel is one of the official sponsors of Olympic team of Bulgaria, as consequence its items are considered mostly reliable.

Major brands in sports equipment are also present on Bulgarian market, such as Puma, Adidas, Nike, Lotto, Intersport, Kappa or Reebok. They either chose the franchise`s solution to reduce costs or simply ship towards Bulgaria through their online stores. The successful concept of online store is more and more implemented by local companies, promoting discounts for a whole range of items. For instance, on the suggestively named Sport Depot, sport clothing, shoes and other accessories are promoted with impressive discounts.

Winter sports are one of Bulgarians` passions, as consequence particular stores will always display ski equipment, estimated both in local currency, euro or dollars, Bulgaria being one of the most visited European countries during the cold season.
