Czech: Eden Arena has new majority owner

CEFC Energy, Chinese Investment Company, has been making important steps in the Czech Republic recently and has just taking this one step further. After buying the majority share in Slavia Prague soccer club, Czech First League, just last year, they have now spent over €30 million for a 70% share of the Eden Arena, their home ground. In addition to this, nearly €50 million is due to be spent in renovations in the coming years to transform the stadium into what the head of the Czech FA has stated as ‘a 30,000 seater national stadium’.

Another Chinese firm, Beijing Municipal and Bridge Corporation, are set to complete the reconstruction on an already advanced stadium which only opened eight years ago and also plays host to some fixtures for the Czech National Team. Slavia Prague have started the season well and find themselves just outside the European spots for next season.
