According to figures recently released, it was a positive 2017 for Slovenian spa resorts after guest numbers increased by around 13% compared to 2016. In total, 845,000 people visited a spa resort with just over half of these coming from abroad; in fact, this was the first ever time there were more foreign visitors than domestic.

Compared to 2016, foreign visitors increased by 23% to a total of 432,600; domestic visitors only increased by 4% to 424,300. In addition to this, overnight stays reached 3.2 million which marked an increase of 10.5%. Once again, there were increases in both foreign and domestic guests staying overnight with the former increasing 20% to 1.6 million and domestic increasing 2.5% to 1.6 million.

Throughout the calendar, hotel facilities held an occupation level of just over 64% which was 19% higher than the average occupation for all Slovenian hotels. Above all else, this shows the current trend spa resorts are seeing and it’s only set to continue into 2018.
