Gentemstick is a Japanese snowboard brand founded in 1998 and based in Niseko, one of the world’s most respected powder destinations. Created by snowboarding pioneer Taro Tamai, the brand is deeply rooted in the original spirit of snowboarding, inspired by surfing, natural terrain, and fluid movement rather than competition or mass production.
Gentemstick boards are designed around a philosophy often referred to as “snow surfing”, a riding style that prioritises flow, balance, and harmony with the mountain. Unlike conventional snowboards, Gentemstick shapes focus heavily on base contours and three-dimensional design, drawing inspiration from surfboards, aircraft wings, and hydrodynamic forms.
