Sports infrastructure investment for Hamburg

Recently, the Hamburg public thought better of hosting the Olympics but there is no denying the passion of the city to develop sports infrastructure within the next eight years. With the ‘Active City’ plan in place, there are around 26 sports projects and six recommendations set to benefit from €50 million of investments.
According to the plan, around 60% of all investment is set to go towards mass sports whilst 40% will be used for the promotion of top-class sports. In the Active City plan, notes read “Even back in 2010, Hamburg possessed the most athletically active population of all major cities in Germany. 80 percent of Hamburg inhabitants were athletically active; in total, over 130 sports and activities were practiced.”
There is no doubt about it, Hamburg is certainly looking to utilise the Olympics movement. Although it failed in a referendum, Hamburg is looking to push the positive effects of the Olympics for local sports development.
