After presenting their bid for the World Championship, Romania has been chosen for the 2020 Women’s Junior Handball tournament with Brasov and Bucharest as the hosting cities. Organized by Antalya, the International Handball Federation (IHF) Congress took place last month and the delegates came to their decision.

Having not hosting any form of World Championship in handball for over 50 years, Romania presented their bid and it turned out to be the only one for the 2020 event. For Narcisa Lecusanu, the IHF Congress was particularly important because the retired Romanian handballer was announced as a member of the Executive Committee after receiving 110 votes.
