The 2018 AIBA Youth Women and Men’s World Boxing Championship is scheduled to hold in Budapest, Hungary from August 20 to 31. It is a tournament that promises to reveal the next generation of young and talented male and female boxers from around the world.

The event is scheduled to last for ten days; it will be an action-packed experience in Budapest where the 174 women and 244 men in the youth boxing category globally will compete for the gold. The previous AIBA Youth Women and Men’s World Boxing Championship events have been won by notable boxers such as the two-time Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez from Cuba and the United States’ Claressa Shields; there is also Tony Yoka, the French Olympic and World Champion.

The interim president of AIBA, Gafur Rahimov in a statement said, “This is one of the most important events in the history of AIBA as it will reveal the next group of talented athletes who are ready to take a major leap into the level of Elite level boxing. We are excited about the upcoming trip to Budapest, and with the help of the LOC, we will deliver another first-class tournament to the satisfaction of boxing fans all over the world.

The President of the Hungarian Boxing Association, Mr. Zsolt Erdei also commented that “The opportunity to host the 2018 Youth Women and Men’s World Championship is a great honour for Budapest and it means a lot to the Hungarian Boxing Association. We will ensure that this tournament provides the best platform for these brilliant young women and men to improve their talent. We are ready to show the world what Hungary is capable of in and outside the boxing ring and we look forward to presenting a show worthy of the occasion.”
