With the launch of amazon.pl the worlds leading e-commerce company looks to develop further in the Polish market and take on Polands local e-commerce retailer Allegro.

With Amazon creating amazon.pl it represents amazons first major push into the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) market. Amazon has been in the Polish market since 2014 and is the 3rd largest American investor and the leading US employer in Poland with 18,000 jobs. Amazon currently has 9 logistics centers in Poland with a 10th opening up later this year in Świebodzin, this will add a further 1000 staff.

“Amazon has been supporting Polish customers for many years and helping to sell the products of Polish entrepreneurs in our European stores. The next step is to introduce a full retail offer for consumers in Poland and it is now time to take that step,” said Alex Ootes, vice president of development, EU, at Amazon, said in January.
