Poland a gateway for companies from South Korea’s for the EU and Central and Eastern Europe.

The signing of a strategic partnership in 2013 between Poland and South Korea has greatly increased investment from South Korean companies with 260 companies invested in the country. South Korea is now the largest Asian investor in Poland it overtook China in 2018. Most of South Korean investment has been in manufacturing, companies from the Asian tiger economy are expecting to start taking further interest in property, nuclear energy, and airport construction.

While South Korean firms have been investing in a number of Central and Eastern Europe’s economies for years, Poland is the clear favourite: over the last five years the bulk of their investment in the region has been made in Poland (around 56 per cent, or 5.1 billion euros), followed by Czechia (26 per cent; 2.4 billion euros) and then Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

Other areas that South Korean companies are expected to invest in Poland are in Green technology, Infrastructure, E-mobility.
