Polish distributor of mountaineering and climbing equipment gets investment

Leading Polish distributor of mountaineering and climbing equipment Snap Outdoor has received investment from Polish Enterprise Fund VIII, which has purchased an 80% stake in the Outdoor Sporting goods distributor.

Snap Outdoor is the owner of 8a.pl which is a leading e-commerce platform focusing on Outdoor Sporting goods and Mountain Sports products, the company also owns 2 bricks and mortar outlets in Warsaw and Gliwice with a 3rd one opening soon in Katowice. The company reported revenues of 16m euros in 2020, this is expected to increase in 2021 by over 40%. Currently the Outdoor sports market in Poland is seeing healthy growth due growing disposable incomes in Poland as well as healthy lifestyle trends in the country.

In a press statement, Michal Kedzia, partner at EI, said the fund was convinced that Snap Outdoor’s business model could be successfully replicated in other CEE markets, which in most cases are not marked by the presence of a clear market leader in outdoor e-commerce. He went on to say that thanks to the company’s broad experience in specialty retail and excellent logistics, Snap Outdoor could become a consolidation platform for other niche e-commerce segments.
