Roto Slovenija, a family-owned business based in Prekmurje, Slovenia, has recently completed the acquisition of Delsyk Kayak, a renowned kayak manufacturer based in Canada. This strategic move positions Roto Slovenija as a global leader in the kayak and canoe industry, boasting the most extensive range of models in the world.

Roto Slovenija, part of an international group specializing in plastic products and recognized as a leading European rotomoulding manufacturer, announced the acquisition on April 11th. With the addition of Delsyk Kayak, Roto Slovenija's kayak range has expanded to an impressive 72 models.

The deal encompasses the acquisition of the Delsyk Kayak brand, including the entire production line, six professional sea kayak tools, machinery, materials, and components. Roto Slovenija is committed to upholding the 40-year tradition of Delsyk Kayak, founded by the late Mike Neckar, a renowned and innovative kayak designer. Neckar's polyethylene sea kayaks have been used in historic journeys, such as the first kayak crossing from California to Hawaii.

To ensure the quality and performance of the kayaks, Roto Slovenija has already tested six models in the waters off Piran, with assistance from Benjamin Savšek, the reigning Olympic champion in slalom canoeing. The company has received orders for the kayaks from distributors in Germany, Sweden, and the United States, indicating strong market interest.

Since its establishment in 1996, Roto Slovenija has expanded its presence in the kayak industry through the acquisition of five other kayak manufacturers. In 2021, the company recorded sales revenue of €11.58 million, a 25% increase compared to the previous year. Net profit also rose by 19% to reach €192,000. The Roto Group, which includes Roto Slovenija, generated revenues of €82 million in 2021, distributing its products in 65 countries worldwide. The group operates eight factories across Europe, employing over 550 people.

Aside from kayaks, Roto Group manufactures a wide range of products, including wastewater treatment plants, water tanks, oil and grease separators, and pumping stations. Their product portfolio extends to agriculture, garden, sports, and environmental solutions, utilizing composites, biodegradable materials, and recycled polymers. Furthermore, Roto Group produces components for various industries, including automotive, marine, construction, agriculture, aquaculture, and logistics.
