Czech consumer boom continues

In recent times, many envious eyes have been on Czech Republic as their consumer boom continues to make headlines. At the same time, we have all been predicting when it would finally slow and could that time now be upon us?

Figures released in June suggest that a change is not about to come just yet as consumer demand just isn't slowing down and the country now has more supermarket space per capita than any other country in Europe. When it comes to retail sales, an increase of 1.5% was seen in May (excluding cars).  Not only is this figure improving as a whole, it seems as though all sectors are playing a part in this growth. In June, household items and communications equipment enjoyed a particularly good month as well as footwear and clothing. Surprisingly, recreation goods and even foodstuffs had a smaller share of the spending.
