New wellness village to be created in Latvia

Kemeri National Park is set to be home to a new wellness village created by Inbalans Group with help from Jurmula Council and Griffin Partners from Moscow. The community is set to play host to a five-star hotel, a 16,000 square foot spa and a ‘wellness clinic’.

The spa, which is to offer a number of different treatments, is set to open in 2018 with the clinic, specialising in balneotherapy treatments, opening four years later in 2022. A number of programmes will also be set up for the wellness community including for sleep, fertility and performance, in the 12 treatment rooms on offer.

Inbalans Group CEO and Founder, Alla Sokolova, has said “This will be a different kind of luxury experience, based on local heritage and using healing sources, but also in a very private setting.”

Kemeri has long been a destination for relaxation and has been visited from as early as the 16th century because of their natural source of curative muds as well as mineral waters. It wasn't until the 1800s that the advantages of these two factors become well-known after Tsar Nikolai of Russia opened the very first bathhouse. Kemeri rapidly increased in population through the years and was the reason for the installation of a railroad from Moscow.

A four-star hotel will also be opened on the site to attract a wider audience for their many treatments. They will also work with the city council in order to build a knowledge centre that will focus on bringing history and science to the area. Interactive exhibits and state of the art facilities will draw people in and allow people to understand exactly where they are and how it originated. This will include a laboratory for all guests who want to understand what makes their water and mud so effective and special.

A healthy community will be promoted throughout and this will be seen in the shape of cycle paths, walking routes, and a number of other projects in the parks and city infrastructure. Sokolova continued “We are excited to be part of this project of such significance, in our home base, as it reflects the passion behind the creation of Inbalans Group: to explore how ancient wisdom can be transformed into modern form, and how wellness concepts can be integrated into everyday life.”
