New Made Kind brand for Berghaus Berghaus has announced that they will be introducing the new ‘Made Kind’ symbol for it’s products in the summer of 2016.![]() Berghaus has announced that they will be introducing the new ‘Made Kind’ symbol for it’s products in the summer of 2016. This symbol will signify that a product is made with a very small impact on the environment and also with fabrics intended for high performance and certain technologies. The symbol could show an improved process, high-quality material as well as eco-friendly material; it will be shown clearly on each products’ ticket so consumers can see before purchase.
Whether a product receives the symbol or not is decided by three different factors; • Made using the ‘Colourkind’ colouring process which has won awards in the past • Made using materials that have been recycled • Made from a fabric that has been approved by Bluesign As long as a product meets one of these criteria, it will be stamped with the Made Kind symbol for all to see. Berghaus are no strangers to this kind of program after before stating that they were making a conscious effort to reduce the amount of water they use during production in order to protect the limited resources on the planet. Water scarcity was at the top of the agenda in 2015 after the World Economic Forum highlighted the problem. |

The U.K organization states that this move contributes to its sustainability program, which entails avoiding harmful ingredients within the supply chain and increasing partnership with ecologically responsible suppliers. Based on Berghaus own information, the British brand name is the first in the UK to have its initiatives accepted by the Swiss company.
It is said that the manufacturing of textiles represents some 20% of global water pollution. Berghaus itself revealed that it managed, in 2014, to decrease its use of water for woven products by 89% in comparison to typical techniques as a result of a new coloring technology. |
