HORSESHAPE

The concept behind Horseshape was born in 2001, when Andreas Rieser first explored the possibility of digitally capturing the shape of a horse’s back using early 3D scanning technology. The goal was to accurately record changes in the horse’s back over time and create a reliable foundation for better saddle fitting. At that stage, however, available measuring systems were expensive, stationary, and impractical for everyday use in the equestrian world.

Between 2003 and 2009, existing approaches to saddle fitting continued to fall short. To overcome limitations in mobility and precision, Andreas Rieser began developing a mechanical measuring solution as an interim step toward a more practical system.

As optical scanning technologies became more affordable and portable around 2010, the Horseshape team returned to the original vision. This led to the development of the HORSESHAPE ScanKit, the first truly mobile 3D scanning solution designed specifically for horse backs, setting a new standard and reshaping saddle fitting practices worldwide.
